Transgrid

Brief

The Human Resources team of Transgrid initiated a series of safety programs aimed at improving safety procedures centred on environmental issues. Critical to the project was an ability for workers to undertake the program relevant to their individual workplace environment using relevant scenarios and familiar terminology.

Solution

The concept was to explain environmental protection issues, especially related to premises such as switch yards, secure storage facilities and easement areas around power transmission lines. Staff working in these areas were required to take online learning as part of their safety procedures. Development of the program included Flash animation, graphic design, photography and audio production.

Results

These programs have become a standard part of induction and regular on-site safety training. To date hundreds of individuals have completed 'Environmental Rules for Premises' and ‘Environmental Rules for Easements’. In one 4 week period over 200 individuals completed the training with assessment and completion results recorded and maintained in the Transgrid Human Resource Management System.
