Workplace safety and eLearning portal for the Crane Group in association with the Flexible Learning Framework.
Brief
Crane group is a leading manufacturer and distributor of non-ferrous metal products and plastic pipeline systems and a major distributor of plumbing and electrical supplies in Australasia. The group takes safety seriously and pro-actively encourages staff to undertake their workplace safety program. With a highly distributed national retail structure, the brief was to migrate existing paper-based instructor-led training content into an effective online program.
Solution
A centralised training portal was created to enable easy access to the program. We worked closely with the National Operations Training team to structure the program according to audience preferences. The content included text, static graphics and Flash graphics to vary the learner experience and keep them fully engaged. Assessment modules were punctuated throughout the program to assist with knowledge retention.

Results
The portal launch coincided with the launch of the ‘Creating a Safe Workplace’ program and received extremely positive feedback. Over 400 people undertook the online learning at a time and place of their choice, reducing interruption to daily work activity and improving the retention of knowledge and individual learning outcomes.
